I am implementing cosmetic changes that will make GenTle's user interface more user friendly.
I do not plan new features for this version.

I have implemented multiple selections of persons.

I have corrected several bugs.

I'm going for carving in Alps next week so I'll not work for GenTle. Don't worry, I'll be back again :-).

I have finished implementation of SURETY SCHEMES.

I have corrected some bugs.

I need to add new features to data browser.

I'm testing, writing documentation, preparing release of version 0.3.4.

CVS status:

I have finished export functionality to GEDCOM 5.5 file format.

I have started implementation of SURETY SCHEMES. Analysis job is finished and implementation has started for this issue.

I have finished GROUP BROWSER implementation.

I have finished export functionality to GEDCOM XML 6 file format.

I have started implementation of GEDCOM 5.5 export functionality

CVS status: I have implemented GROUP BROWSER. Saving and restoring groups is not yet ready, but it will be implemented next week. I have corrected several bugs. Most important bug correction provides possibility to introduce HTML tags in GenTle's edit fields. They will be rendered in DATA BROWSER properly.

CVS status: I have finished implementation of DATA BROWSER. I need to solve some "small" problems like displaying national characters in DATA BROWSER or some problems with modality. I am writing documentation at this time and I am preparing release of this version.

CVS status: I have implemented FAMILY BROWSER. I have found an annoying bug linked with family algorithm; I will write the report next week. I am working on DATA BROWSER at this time.

I am working on analysis and design of next version. I had a lot of to do this week so I haven't payed much attantion to GenTle :-(. I will work for GenTle again next week.

CVS status: release of version 0.3.2 is done. I am preparing new version that will bring new features.

CVS status:

special persons are introduced
I have roughly implemented search for persons and events functionality
some bug corrections were done. I fixed several crash-causing bugs
some small improvements were done to the code

CVS status: I prepare GenTle for some bigger changes so no new features are implemented. I plan to do release that will correct some bugs and will contain corrected code. I will implement new features then. I plan to release these features in 0.3.x series. I am working very intesively, please be patient :-).

CVS status: I have finished implementation of settings and of media viewer. I am preparing release and mini user manual.

CVS status: I am implementing settings for GenTle. General setting's dialog is implemented, translation support with czech translation files as well. Project setting's dialog will be finished next week (probably -- we have Christmas :-)). No save/read of data to/from files on the disc is done yet, but will be surely imlemented :-).

CVS status: I have finished analysis and design effort for internationalization and for settings. I have started implementation of these subjects.

Release of reference manual for GenTle 0.2.1 is done. This document is intended for developers.

CVS status: I have implemented functionality for getting DEPOSITORY directory from environment variable so when GenTle is started for the first time, DEPOSITORY structure is created. I wrote some documentation for reference manual and I am correcting bugs. I pay my effort for preparing release of version 0.2.1. This should released till the end of this year.

CVS status: I have implemented PLACE's management. Places are shared between projects now. This was the last "shared" thing to implement. I still need to implement "New depository" functionality (for the case that GenTle is started for the first time). Then I will test, document sources, correct some bugs and I will release new version of GenTle.

21st November, 2003

I am implementing PLACES management. Code for adding PLACE TYPEs and PLACES is done. Before checking it in, I need to solve some stupid small errors. I will check the code in during the first days of next week.

Analysis and design tasks for PLACES management are done. I am starting implementation of this part of GenTle.

I am back from my holiday so I continue analysing PLACES situation. It is not so easy as it looks :-( so it seems this task will take some time. I will start implementation ASAP after I finish analyse and design tasks.

CVS status: the same as last week. I am performing analyse tasks for PLACES implementation. I had some holiday so work on GenTle was not so intensive as usually. I will have some holiday next week so I CVS status will not change againg. After my holiday, I will continue working on GenTle as usually.

CVS status: I have implemented RESOURCE management. It can be used to define RESOURCES structure (REPOSITORY, SOURCE, CITATION), store all information about RESOURCES and manage it. It is possible to define arbitrary hierarchical structure of SOURCES within REPOSITORIES and create CITATIONS of SOURCES. CITATIONS can be pointed from personal records, events, etc. RESOURCE data is shared across all project stored in DEPOSITORY.
Following needs to be still implemented:

MEDIUM browser for SOURCES and CITATIONS. Now, it is possible to specify MEDIUM file (picture, sound, video), but it is not possible to view it within GenTle. It will be implemented later.

I have implemented saving and parsing of FAMILY records. FAMILIES are build automatically during creation of family tree. FAMILY browser is not implemented till now, but it will be included in some later version.

CVS status: I am implementing RESOURCE management. Following is already implemented:

All widgets, panels and dialogs

RESOURCE handling (i.e. adding, editing, deleting)

assigning CITATIONs to persons/events

saving of RESOURCES (not for persons, events, ...)

Restoring of RESOURCES is under heavy development.

10th October, 2003

CVS status: I have finished analysis and design work for REPOSITORY, SOURCE and CITATION implementation (generally I am calling it RESOURCES). I have started implementation of RESOURCES. Resource dialog is implemented but some edit functionality is missing. I plan to finish it next week, as well as saving RESOURCES into the shared area and restoring it again when the GenTle is started.

CVS status: Research planning is implemented, but following things must still be done:

implementation of calendar to display planned activities
export of objectives and activities into files

This issues will be implemented latter. I want to implement issues that influence format of data at first. These are following:

CVS status: I have introduces shared management of contacts (researchers). I have finished analysis and design work on research improvement and I am currently coding quick prototype. I plan to finish research management next week.

NOTE: sourceforge.net's statistics does not work properly so numbers displayed are confusing :-). I am working on GenTle every day, as usually.

CVS status: I have introduced "Project" into the GenTle and basic functionality for project handling:

creating a new project
opening of project
deleting of project

Other functionality like "Save As", "Rename" or "Add" will be implemented as well (but later).

At this time, only ID management is shared. My next work will be focused on sharing of specific kind of data between projects. E.g. contacts (researchers), repositories and sources etc. will be shared between projects so it will not be necessary to specify it for every project again and again.

READ CAREFULLY! GenTle's code in CVS is very experimental now! I am in state of implementation "multiple-project" mode and the quick-prototype can be found in CVS now. This will take some time, I quess it will be finished in three months. Please be patient, I am doing GenTle in my free time so I cannot do any reliable planning of release. IAC I will write news here about GenTle's CVS state so you can see how the work proceeds. I will make a release (0.2.1) after the work is done. Some new other features will be introduced as well. To experiment with GenTle you can do the following:

if you are a user, you can either download latest release (0.1.2.) or check-out sources from CVS with branch tag GT_TAG_BRANCH_0_1
if you are a developer and you want to experiment with new features, you can check-out main development stream from CVS.

But in ANY case, do *NOT* create any sensitive or meaningfull data with GenTle since data formats that GenTle uses are changing now so that it will fit needs of miltiple-project approach. This data will *NOT* be compatible with the present format.
I am doing my best to be quick enough so that I can be back ASAP with new release. Please be patient, I am the only one :-). Thank you.

First release of GenTle. This release is just for having idea how the tool works AND/OR for developers who would like to join the project. This tool is under heavy development so next releases come soon. enjoy;-).
